about
Okay, so you might want to just slow down for a minute before listening to this one. Carole King's 1971 album, Tapestry' is a masterpiece by anyone's standards and I could have chosen a song at random and enjoyed singing it, but in the end I settled on track 2, So Far Away. Such a simple, beautiful lyric which could apply to so many of us, rushing around the planet, leading exciting lives but in the end, missing our nearest and dearest...
When I was recording this (in my head) I had the rhythm section from John Lennon's 'Double Fantasy' album down to play for me-I've always enjoyed that solid, reliable, unpretentious drumming and warm, dry sound.
Like I said, slow down, everybody!

lyrics
So far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're just time away
Long ago I reached for you and there you stood
Holding you again could only do me good
Oh, how I wish I could
But you're so far away
One more song about moving along the highway
Can't say much of anything that's new
If I could only work this life out my way
I'd rather spend it being close to you
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore?
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away
Traveling around sure gets me down and lonely
Nothing else to do but close my mind
I sure hope the road don't come to own me
There's so many dreams I've yet to find
But you're so far away
Doesn't anybody stay in one place anymore
It would be so fine to see your face at my door
Doesn't help to know you're so far away
