about
The real joy of The Friday Covers is in discovering the many ways in which music can lift us from the humdrum and help us on our journey through life, or in my case, from the desperate Monday morning when I think theres no way I'm going to get a song recorded, to the Monday night or Tuesday when I percieve a glimmer of light which tells me I might be able to come up with something worth sharing on this site.
People go on about Leanard Cohen's music being depressing, or boring or monotanous, but there are those who know better. Far from depressing, Cohens writing is uplifting and beautiful, inspiring and invigourating.
This has been the most challenging cover to date-he makes the vocal sound so easy, but it's not, well, not for me anyway!

I particularly like 'Bard of the Boudoir'
'Edith Piaf with chest hair' had me chuckling, too!
lyrics
I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm
Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm
Yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new
In city and in forest, they smiled like me and you
But now it's come to distances and both of us must try
Your eyes are soft with sorrow
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye
I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time
Walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme
You know my love goes with you as your love stays with me
It's just the way it changes like the shoreline and the sea
But let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie
Your eyes are soft with sorrow
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye
I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm
Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm
Yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new
In city and in forest they smiled like me and you
But let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie
Your eyes are soft with sorrow
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye
